Director Michael Bay considers writing LaBeouf's broken hand into the film's script in order to begin filming again as soon as possible.

Original accounts of Shia LaBeouf's car accident one week ago in West Hollywood suggested that he suffered only minor injuries when his truck flipped after colliding with another vehicle. According to the Associated Press, LaBeouf was charged with driving under the influence, but is not being faulted for the accident. Los Angeles Police have confirmed that the other car ran a red light when it hit the actor. The Associated Press is now reporting that the actor's left hand was smashed in the collision and required four hours of surgery to be repaired. LaBeouf was in the midst of filming the sequel to his 2007 hit movie, Transformers, and his lawyer has told the Associated Press that doctors are requiring him to postpone his work for the time being. In an interview with Access Hollywood, the film's director, Michael Bay, said that the script is being re-worked to account for LaBeouf's two broken fingers in the movie's plotline. According to ChattahBox.com, LaBeouf will likely be taking a one-month break before resuming work.

The other passenger in the actor's car at the time of the accident was his Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen costar, Isabel Lucas, who E! News reports left the scene with barely a scratch.
