Sigourney Weaver Pushed into Acting by Pals

Weaver may never have gotten into acting without a little help from her friends.

Acting legend Sigourney Weaver admits that she had to be pushed into acting by her friends, as she was very shy and self-conscious growing up, WENN reports.

Weaver had considered acting at an early age, but did not take the dreams seriously, battling shyness and lack of confidence in her abilities.

But when her friends assured her that she did have great talent, she decided to take the plunge.

"I was very shy, very self-conscious. I didn't even decide to be an actress until my friends kept hiring me in New York. I kind of backed into it," the 58-year-old actress recalled.

Weaver was further comforted when she encountered many other very talented stars with the same issues.

"It's funny how many late-bloomers there are in our business," she observed.

"Whether through shyness or what have you, we hold back and then suddenly - boom!"
