Sigourney Weaver's Ethnic Mix Up
Actress gets wrong family name to look up.
On a recent trip to Scotland to look into her ancestry, actress Sigourney Weaver was embarrassed to realize that her father - TV producer Sylvester L. Weaver, Jr. - had given her the incorrect name to research, WENN reports.
Upon discovering she was part Scottish, the Alien actress had been excited to travel to the U.K. and find out more. "My dad said we were part of the McLoud clan, so I went to Scotland and found the McLoud castle," the star explains. However, when she found it, her father informed her that he might have made a mistake.
"I phoned him and there was a pause and he says, 'You know what, I think we're McFarlane!'" said Weaver.
At least for now, there remains a slight detour on the track to tracing her family line.
