Simon Cowell 'Bored' by His Hit Show

Cowell no longer interested in 'Idol'

Simon Cowell, the brutally honest judge on American Idol, reveals that boredom is his reason for leaving the hit show.

Cowell was interviewed on The Oprah Winfrey Show show earlier last week, and admitted that he could not hide his reasons anymore. The fierce judge felt that he was on "autopilot," and that the viewers tuning in each week deserved more than just watching him be bored out of his mind.

People reports that Cowell also mentions in the interview: "Maybe it’s the draining effect when you have a lot of people who depend on you … And you just become aware that a lot of people depend on you, rely on you, or you’re not giving people the time you should be giving them."

After Cowell leaves Idol, he will work on his show, X Factor, another reality competition show. Though both shows deal with singing and talent, X Factor allows groups to audition, as well as people of any age. The judge mentions that this will be a test to see if the show is a success in the states, as it is already a hit show in the United Kingdom.

Though Cowell is bored from Idol, he admitted that he likes to be a part of something that people are talking about, and will miss the "buzz" about the show.
