He definitely knows how to pick 'em. As a judge on American Idol, he was brutally honest and helped choose some of today's biggest music stars and has been involved with several other talent-based reality competitions like America's Got Talent, The X Factor and American Inventor. So it should come as no surprise that Cowell's latest project is another in the long line of competition shows.

Cowell has teamed up with Will and Jada Pinkett-Smith for a new reality show that will seek to find the most talented DJs from all over the world. According to The NY Daily News, Cowell's Syco Entertainment, Smith's Overbrook Entertainment and Sony Pictures Television will all team up to create DJ Superstar.

"We've been working on this show for over a year and we wanted to partner with the right people," said Cowell in a statement. "DJs are the new rock stars. It feels like the right time to make the show."

Popdust reported that Cowell will seek to air the show in both the U.S. and the U.K. and will release more details about the show and on which stations it will air in the near future.

Pinkett-Smith said that the show will seek to find a different kind of talent than singing competitions like Idol, "This show will comb the world to find a new breed of talent," she said in a statement.

Although the figures behind the project have had huge success in the genre of reality competitions and the entertainment world in general, the verdict is still out on whether watching people DJ on a stage will be as entertaining as watching someone perform and how the competition will be judged. More details could help clear up those questions and others.
