Simon Pegg Tweets that David Tennant's Out of 'Burke and Hare'

Andy Serkis to take his place.

Simon Pegg posted on his Twitter account yesterday that Dr. Who star David Tennant has dropped out of the John Landis film, Burke and Hare.

"David Tennant had to drop out of B&H but by sheer glorious serendipity a legend of Middle Earth and Skull Island has come aboard. Welcome AS."

The film is a comedic portrayal of 19th century murderers William Burke and William Hare, who had been digging up graves in order to sell them to private anatomy professor Robert Knox. When cadavers became scarce, the two gravediggers turned to manufacturing their own, murdering 17 victims before getting caught. Hare later turned on Burke, gaining immunity for his testimony, leading to Burke's execution.

With Pegg playing Burke, it's only fitting that the double crossing Gollum would now portray Hare. Fans hoping to see more of the previous Dr. Who, however, will unfortunately have to settle for reruns.
