Sinatra's Album Gets to No.2 on the Billboard
This week marked the 10th anniversary of Frank Sinatra's death. Along with it have come many products marking his anniversary. Nothing but the Best, by Reprise, is a collection of his classics, fully remastered, and coming in at number 2 on the Billboard 200, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
This collection has already sold 99,000 copies. The last time he debuted in the same spot on Billboard was with his Duets, which sold 3.2 million, according to Reuters.
Since this is the anniversary of his death, his name has been around a lot lately. Warner Home Video is set to release 22 of his classics, including Ocean's Eleven, The Man with the Golden Arm and Anchors Aweigh. The cable channel Turner Classic Movies is showing his movies and musicals throughout the month hosted by his children. There has also been a stamp put out by the U.S. Post Office, and Life Books is putting out an updated version of Remembering Sinatra called Life: Remembering Sinatra: 10 Years Later, reported Reuters.
All this material comes after a partnership between Warner Music and the Sinatra family under the banner Frank Sinatra Enterprises. This was announced last year and gave FSE the right to license his likeness and image. "FSE wanted to commemorate Sinatra's life and his great body of work," FSE co-president Jimmy Edwards told Reuters. "All these partnerships helped increase his profile, but Frank sells Frank."
