A Single Prince William
It's tough to sustain a relationship when you are in the military--just ask Prince William, whose five year relationship with Kate Middleton just ended, in what British media reports are calling an amicable split.
After meeting at St. Andrew's University in Scotland, William went on to Sandhurst Military Academy, and began a two-and-a-half month assignment about 125 miles away from Middleton's London home, probably putting a strain on the relationship.
Rumors that the couple was set to tie the royal knot surfaced after Middleton was invited to Christmas lunch at Buckingham Palace, an honor indicating an introduction to Queen Elizabeth II. On her 25th birthday, the press was all abuzz, spreading rumors that the milestone may be the perfect date for William to make his girlfriend a princess.
Due to the repeated false rumors spread by the British press, Middleton filed a complaint of media harassment with Britain's Press Complaints Commission, and recieved an apology and admission of error by the Daily Mail.
While the prince is back on the market, according to him it will be awhile before he is likely to get married. In response to rumors that the 24-year-old might be ready to tie the knot, William has insisted that he won't be making any lucky ladies princesses until the age of 28. Wait four more years girls, and then it's time to pounce.
