Six-Year-Old Leo Hunter Gets 23-Book Deal
Derby native Leo Hunter, a six-year-old Harry Potter fan, has recently landed a 23-story contract with an American publisher, The Sun reports.
After reading his first book, Me and My Best Friend, the story of his alliance with his pet Alsatian dog named Kugar, Leo’s mother, Jamie, an author herself, contacted publishers on both sides of the Atlantic.
Strategic Book Publishing liked it so much that they agreed to a contract in which Leo will receive “20 percent from early sales of the £10, 25-page books. But this will rise to 50 percent if more than 500 are sold.” Leo will, however, write under the same pseudonym as his mother, JS Huntlands, to protect his privacy.
Leo was quoted as saying, "I like Harry Potter but I like my books even more. Writing makes me very happy - it's so interesting." The six-year-old also said, "I would like to be more famous than JK Rowling - even more famous than Cheryl Cole and Simon Cowell."
