Sixth "Biggest Loser" Eliminated

Dina Mercado was sent home from the ranch but continues on her weight loss mission.

The sixth contestant was eliminated Tuesday night from the eighth season of NBC's "The Biggest Loser."

Dina Mercado, a 28-year-old custodian from Commerce, CA, lost five pounds but was voted out of the competition by her teammates after an emotional deliberation period.

Prior to elimination, the Blue Team won a challenge that allowed them to decide which team would go home and which team would stay to train with Bob and Jillian. The Black Team, of which Dina was a part, was sent home for the week. Both teams were present for the last chance workout with the trainers, but the blue team's decision to remain at the ranch the entire time proved to be the right one. In total, the Blue Team had a team percentage weight loss of 2.65 % and the Black Team fell behind with only 1.98 %.

Back at the dorms, Dina argued that Daniels 1 pound gain had contributed largely to their loss and that he had already been given a second chance. A tearful Daniel pleaded with the other contestants, claiming that he needed to stay to grapple with emotional issues. Danny was free was consideration after earning immunity by losing an amazing 15 pounds.

In the end, Dina was sent home by a 4-2 vote. Her teammates expressed the general opinion that she was strong enough to survive at home.

They were right. With a continued commitment to working out and eating healthy, and encouragement from her young son, Dina has lost an additional 30 pounds since being eliminated.

The next episode of "The Biggest Loser" airs Tuesday, October 27, at 8 p.m.
