Skiing Champion Injured Arm in Crash

Lindsey Vonn plans on competing in Tuesday's race, after receiving injuries in the last race.

Lindsey Vonn injured her arm in a crash on Monday, according to USA Today. The accident occurred during the opening run of the World Cup in Germany. An X-ray and an MRI done at the hospital where she was taken after the incident revealed there were no broken bones, only bruises.

Vonn, an overall skiing champion, will most likely be able to compete in Tuesday’s race.

She lost her balance on a bump after a sharp left turn, lost a ski and hit a gate. Vonn spent 10 minutes on the ground receiving first aid and then skied down the hill with her arm on a sling.

During last season’s world championships, Vonn sliced her thumb with a broken bottle of champagne and raced during the season with the pole taped to her glove. Vonn stayed at the top of the table with 581 points followed by the second place, Maria Riesch, with 531 points.
