Slash Getting Ready To Record Star-Studded Solo Record

Slash is getting ready for a busy 2009.

According to a recent interview former Guns 'N' Roses guitarist Slash did with Billboard, he says that fans should expect a solo album, third Velvet Revolver record, or maybe even both.

At this point, Slash says, he is at the "very tail end of the demo phase" for his solo project. With this, he hopes to begin recording the demoed tracks at the beginning of 2009.

He said he began thinking of material at the end of Velvet Revolver's latest tour, and some of the material seems to be similar to Guns 'N' Roses.

"There's really no particular direction," Slash said. "I just wanted to take a little bit of a break from all the politics and the democracy that is a band and just sort of do my own thing for a little bit. There will be a lot of stuff I don't have the freedom to do in a band situation."

But the thing about a solo record is that Slash doesn't sing. So, he's planning on bringing in a bunch of celebrity guest singers on each track. He won't let that list leak at this point, though.

"They're all sort of well-known singers," he said. "It's sort of like how I go play on a lot of other people's records, so other people will just play on this one."

The only way the solo record would be delayed would be if Velvet Revolver finds a new vocalist for the departe Scott Weiland soon.

"There's been a couple that might have been interesting," Slash said, "but with any of those 'name' people ... it's really hard to make something sound original if you've got somebody people are so familiar with hearing somewhere else."

Stay tuned.
