Slash Talks About Guns N' Roses and Autobiography
Saul Hudson, more widely known by the name Slash, is the former lead guitarist of legendary rock band Guns N' Roses. He now plays with former Stone Temple Pilots frontman Scott Weiland in the band Velvet Revolver. Slash is considered one of the greatest guitarists of all time in some circles.
Slash recently released his autobiography, appropriately titled Slash. Though many people expected him to badmouth GNR singer Axl Rose, the guitarist revealed to the New York Times that he "just wanted to shed some light on the reality of why we broke up, not...berate Axl." Slash and Axl Rose have a well-publicized feud, although Rose has also been known for similar conflicts with Motley Crue singer Vince Neil, Nirvana's Kurt Cobain, Bon Jovi, and even Tommy Hilfiger.
During the late 80s Guns N' Roses' debut album Appetite for Destruction was a welcome alternative to the glam metal that lead the metal genre in record sales, radio airplay and video charts. GNR was dirtier, less refined, and more authentic. They were also the subject of much controversy for profanity in lyrics and reported drug abuse.
Slash's book covers his years of debauchery with the band, his clash with Rose, and his road to sobriety.
