Slumdog Millionaire Big Winner at Oscars
Slumdog Millionaire was the big winner at the Academy Awards on Sunday night.
"Slumdog", its director, Danny Boyle, and its writer, Simon Beaufoy, left with eight Oscars including best picture, direction, cinematography and adapted screenplay.
The movie follows a young man from the slums of India who becomes a successful contestant in a "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire" type game show.
Boyle previously directed "Trainspotting" and the "Little Miss Sunshine".
Two of the "Slumdog" actors are 10-year-old Azharuddin Mohammed Ismail and 9-year-old Rubina Ali who live in Bandra, a Mumbai slum. They travelled to Los Angeles for the ceremony.
"My eyes couldn't believe that I was seeing Rubina in America," said Saba Qureshi, Rubina's best friend, according to the Washington Post.
