Smashing Pumpkin back together?
Fourteen months after lead singer Billy Corgan ran a full-page ad in a Chicago newspaper saying he wanted to reunite the Smashing Pumpkins, the band is back recording in the studio, according to the Associated Press.
The band rockers confirmed the news on their Web site. Joining them for the recording sessions will be Roy Thomas Baker, the famed English producer who oversaw such classic records as Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody," The Cars' "Shake It Up" and most recently, The Darkness' "One Way Ticket to Hell and Back," according to the AP.
The only two confirmed members of the original Smashing Pumpkins in the studio are Corgan and drummer Jimmy Chamberlain, according to the AP. Bassist D'arcy Wretzky and Melissa Auf der Maur were not confirmed to be working with the band.
Former Jane's Addiction bassist Eric Avery said he has been doing work with Corgan and, "It looks like I will be working with the Smashing Pumpkins."
