Smith Named 49ers Starting Quarterback
San Francisco 49ers head coach Mike Singletary has announced that Alex Smith will be the starting quarterback for the 49ers.
After benching quarterback Shaun Hill at halftime of the San Francisco 49ers 24-21 loss to the Houston Texans, coach Mike Singletary has announced that Alex Smith will be the new starting quarterback for the 49ers, reports ESPN.
Smith played well in the second half of the game, completing 15 of 22 passes for 206 yards and three touchdowns.
According to the Miami Herald, Smith was selected by the 49ers with the first overall pick in the 2005 NFL Draft, coming out of Utah. He missed all of last season after reinjuring his throwing shoulder just three days before the season opener.
