Snoop Dogg Accused of Assault, Found Not Guilty

Snoop Dogg, along with other men who work closely with the rapper, were claimed to have struck Richard Monroe, Jr., during a concert four years ago.

Drop It Like It's Hot rapper Snoop Dogg, has been cleared of civil assault after a jury found him not guilty on Friday.

Entertainment Weekly reports that the charges against Calvin Broadus (Snoop Dogg), stemmed from a 2005 concert in Washington. His accuser, Richard Monroe, Jr., said he received "serious injuries" by the 6'3-½" nephew of legendary funk bassist Bootsy Collins.

Monroe, who says he was left nearly naked, bruised and unconscious by Snoop and his friends, was awarded $449,000 in damages.

Initially, Monroe sought $22 million, but apparently the rapper was not involved in the brawl, according to the victim, which happened while he got on stage during a Snoop performance.

As stated by the Associated Press, Snoop Dogg, who testified during the trial, was not present in court when the verdict was reached.
