Spamalot Closes
Monty Python's Spamalot will close its doors after a super successful Broadway run, in January.
The stage adaptation of Monty Python and the Holy Grail will have its last performance at the Shubert Theater on January 18. The play will have lasted for 1,582 performances, according to insider Web site BroadwayWorld.com.
The cast has been rather impressive. It has included Tim Curry, David Hyde-Pierce and recently outed Clay Aiken (who currently plays Sir Robin in the production).
The show opened at the Shubert Theater in March of 2005 and it won multiple Tony, Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle awards later in 2005 for Best Musical.
The show, written by Eric Idle and John Du Prez, will have pulled in more than $175 million by the time it ends. And, even more impressive, it will have been seen by more than two million on Broadway.
