Spears and Brand Star in Lead-Up Video for the VMAs

Britney Spears and Russell Brand communicate telepathically in an ad for the MTV Video Music Awards.

Britney Spears and British comedian Russell Brand have returned as the stars of a promotional set of ads for the MTV Video Music Awards. In the video, the two VMA superstars—Brand is hosting the awards show for the second time in a row and Spears has been nominated for seven VMAs including Video of the Year—can hear each other's thoughts.

The video opens with a shot of a bikini-clad Spears, who is lost in thought, wondering whether Brand will ask her to the MTV Video Music Awards. Meanwhile Brand worries that he might have offended Spears with some of the remarks that he made last year. When Brand realizes that he can hear Spears's voice in his head, he tries to send the pop star lascivious messages telepathically.

The promotional series will run in the weeks leading up to the MTV Video Music Awards which will air live from New York City on September 13.
