Spears cancels remaining leg of Onyx Hotel Tour
Pop Princess Britney Spears has broken the hearts of 13 year-old girls across America and stepped out of "the zone." The Onyx Hotel Tour, which The New York Times called, "a magical wonderland of the subconscious where...your "darkest side" can be explored, with "titillation" guaranteed" has been cancelled.
The last leg of Spears' tour, which featured Spears gyrating and lip-synching in an ever-changing wardrobe - including a translucent terry-cloth robe, a sequin-covered body stocking and even a see-through bathtub - was officially called off due to a recent knee injury followed by last week's arthroscopic surgery in a New York Hospital.
According to Spears' Web site, the surgery was essential to repair severe damage caused to the singer's leg on the set of her video shoot for "Outrageous" in Queens, N.Y. Spears will have to wear a hard brace and will be immobile for six weeks and may need an additional eight to 12 weeks of rehabilitation.
Prior to her injury, Spears completed the tour's first leg in the U.S followed by six weeks of the shows in Europe. The remainder of the Onyx Tour was set to run across 35 U.S cities from June 22 in Connecticut to Aug. 15 in California, leaving 35 U.S arenas full of Spears fans in disarray and with unripped concert tickets. According to Clear Channel, any ticket refunds are available at the point of purchase. A spokesperson for Spears says "Spears hopes to revisit those cities in the future."
Hopefully Spears' fans won't get sidetracked by the "darkest side of their subconscious" and can remain loyal fans, eager for their guaranteed, but as of yet unplanned dose of unadulterated Spears "titillation."
