Spears Recording a New Album

Britney Spears is in the process of recording a new album.

Britney Spears's label told Reuters on Wednesday that the pop star is working on a new album. This being her recovery after her stints of troubling behavior and stints in the hospital, as well as psychiatric evaluations, reported Reuters.

The 26-year-old has spent the past 18 months in the headlines through her custody battle with her ex-husband in which she lost her two sons, all the way to rehab, and then on to attacking a photographer's car with an umbrella. During the last third of her stint in the headlines, her father took over management of her personal as well as business affairs. She was also mentioned as a possible Emmy award nominee for the two guest appearances that she had on the TV series, How I Met Your Mother, according to Reuters.

Larry Rudolph, her manager, and her label Jive Records told Reuters in a statement that the pop star was one of the most successful in her genre in the early 2000s and "is spending her summer in the recording studio, working on a brand new album."

The statement to Reuters went on to say, "She's working with a team of top-notch producers and songwriters and we're very excited about what she's accomplished so far. No album release date has been confirmed yet."

Her last album, Blackout, came in at No. 2 last November, before it quickly fell on the charts. Her two sons, Sean Preston and Jayden James, are currently in the custody of her former backup dancer and ex-husband, Kevin Federline. The two have started mediation for custody of the two children to avoid a trial date set for August.
