Spears's Documentary Airs on MTV

Singer Britney Spears's behind-the-scenes documentary to discuss her public meltdown and comeback album aired Sunday night.

In anticipation of her comeback album, Circus, singer Britney Spears aired a behind-the-scenes documentary on MTV Sunday night to address her public meltdown last year and publicize her new album, according to MTV.com.

Britney: For the Record followed the singer for three months as she produced her upcoming album. During the candid interviews, the singer opened up about her life in the limelight.

"I have good days and I have bad days," Spears said in the documentary. "Sometimes it's too much."

Spears said that during her breakdown, she let negative influences into her life.

"[It was] a really bad time in my life. . . . I'm not gonna sugarcoat it and say I was OK," she admitted. "Maybe I had traumatic stress. I just remember I did not want to be at home. When I was in my car, I was driving and I was going somewhere."

When asked what she wanted people to take away from this documentary, Spears responded, "I love what I do. I love my babies, and I work really hard. It's weird. You can see the cruelest part of the world and then on the other side you see the most beautiful. . . . But they're worth it. . . . I've been to both places."

Spears also addressed the notorious head-shaving incident and said it was liberating.

"I was going through so much artificial stuff with my kids and Kevin at the time. He'd just left me and I was devastated. . . . People shave their heads all the time. . . . [It was] a little bit of rebellion, or feeling free, or shedding stuff that had happened, you know?"

Circus hits stores tomorrow to coincide with the singer's 27th birthday. Spears also plans to tour next year.
