Spiderman is finally coming to Broadway! Spider-man: Turn off the Dark will premiere in the winter.
Preview shows are scheduled for Nov. 14 at the Foxwoods Theatre and opening night is Dec. 21, announced the show’s producer, Michael Cohn.
Money problems have plagued the comic book musical since summer 2009. It is expected to be the most expensive production in Broadway history, costing over $50 million.
The show originally had Evan Rachel Wood playing Mary Jane and Alan Cumming as the Green Goblin, but constant delays forced the actors to bail. They were replaced by Jennifer Damiano, a Tony-nominated actress from Next to Normal and Patrick Page, who played the Grinch on Broadway, respectively.
Reeve Carney will play Peter Parker. Bono and The Edge from U2 scored the show, which originally intended to premiere last February. Julie Taymora, behind The Beatle’s movie musical Across the Universe, will direct.
Tickets for the rock musical go on sale for American Express cardholders August 14 and the general public in September.
