Spielberg: "Filmmakers are Braver in Bush's Second Term"

Famed Hollywood director Steven Spielberg believes that filmmakers are more likely to make politically driven films in George W. Bush's second term because they want to distance themselves from his policies. Spielberg, who is now promoting Munich, his controversial, Oscar-nominated film, feels the Republican administration does not have his best interests at heart. Spielberg complains, "Maybe I shouldn't get into this. I just feel that filmmakers are much more proactive since the second Bush administration. I think that everybody is trying to declare their independence and state their case for the things that we believe in. No one is really representing us, so we're now representing our own feelings, and we're trying to strike back." Munich takes place during the aftermath of the terrorist attacks at the 1972 Olympic Games.
