Spielberg Plans Lincoln Movie

Steven Spielberg plans to direct a biographical movie on Abraham Lincoln in 2009.

Steven Spielberg, Oscar-winning movie director, is planning to go into production on a biographical movie about Abraham Lincoln in 2009, Lincoln's 200th anniversary.

The project will begin after his Tintin, which he will start in September, the Los Angeles Times reports.

According to KillerMovies.com, the movie will be based on the biography, The Uniter: The Genius of Abraham Lincoln, by Pulitzer prize winner Doris Kearns Goodwin, and will portray Lincoln's role in ensuring victory for the North in the Civil War.

Spielberg became interested in the project when Dreamworks, his studio, purchased the rights to the biography in 2001, which will be published in the fall, says CWPT Media Roundup. Liam Neeson has been rumored to play the president, with Sally Field as Mary Todd Lincoln, IMDb reports.

Neeson has previously worked with Spielberg in the movie Schindler's List, as Oskar Schindler, a role for which he was nominated for an Oscar.
