Spielberg Rumored To Be Changing Studios
After a long relationship with Paramount, a studio which controls the operations of DreamWorks, it appears that Director Steven Spielberg, and his DreamWorks studio, will be free to negotiate with other studios starting May 1, according to Reuters.
Two sources tell the wire service that Spielberg will not make the decision to whether or not he should terminate his contract until the summer.
One source goes on to say that the director - whose upcoming film, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, is scheduled to open on May 23 - very well could choose to stay with Paramount.
Spielberg and the chairman of DreamWorks, David Geffen, have agreed to stay with Viacom's Paramount Pictures through 2008, but there has been a great deal of speculation that Spielberg would leave Paramount at the end of 2008. Part of this speculation has come from many studio executives, who have been saying for some time that Geffen and Spielberg are looking to move their studio to General Electric Co.'s NBC Universal.
