Spitzer's "Kristen" Named
The woman referred to in the Attorney General's report, which led to the resignation of New York Governor Eliot Spitzer, as "Kristen," is a 22-year-old wannabe singer from New Jersey, The New York Times reported Wednesday.
The newspaper said that Ashley Youmans, who now is known as Ashley Alexandra Dupre - was identified in court documents as the high-priced prostitute who met with Spitzer at the Mayflower Hotel on the eve of Valentine's Day.
Dupre has not yet been charged with a crime.
The N.Y. Times was able to track her because Dupre made a short appearance Monday in the U.S. Magistrate Court as a witness against the four people charged with operating Emperor's Club VIP, the prostitution ring in which Spitzer and Dupre were involved.
Dupre has a MySpace page, and this gave a great deal of insight into the background of the relatively unknown prostitute/singer.
On her page, she writes that she left home and "a broken family" at 17.
"Learned what it was like to wake up one day and have the people you care about most gone. I have been alone. I have abused drugs. I have been broke and homeless. But, I survived, on my own. I am here, in NY because of my music."
Dupre goes on to talk about her musical influences and musical career among other things. She does not mention anything about how she makes a living.
