Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Cover Leaks Early

The top secret 2012 Sports Illustrated swimsuit cover made an early debut today.

Although the cover was suppose to be revealed on tonight's The Late Show With David Letterman, as it traditionally has been for the past few years, E! News reported today that a blogger leaked the cover shot early.

This year's cover girl, Kate Upton, first appeared in the magazine in the body paint section of SI's 2011 swimsuit issue. If she looks familiar, don't be surprised. The Hollywood Gossip reported that the 19-year-old model has also worked for Victoria's Secret, and was at one point rumored to be dating New York Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez.

The early release could be due to the site Bar Stool Sports, which posted a picture asking visitors to rate Kate Upton's swimsuit cover around 3 p.m. today.

Site founder David Portnoy addressed the rumored leak through his Twitter. "Wait did we just leak the Kate Upton SI cover? We're so good we leak s--t and don't even know," he tweeted around ten minutes after the picture debuted on the website.

Portnoy wasn't the only one with an early copy of the coveted issue. TMZ reported that a gas station in Michigan also had copies of the issue before it was scheduled to make its official debut. TMZ thanked Twitter user @wildefries for bringing the news to their attention.

On @wildefries Twitter page, the user tweeted to Portnoy "Wait, @stoolpresidente, did I just leak the SI Cover?"

Meanwhile SI has not yet reached out publicly to comment on the leak.
