Alleged stalker Grzegorz Matlok was arrested over the weekend after breaking into Madonna’s £10 million London mansion while she was in the United States to attend the funeral of her late grandmother, Elsie Mae Fortin, who died last week at the age of 99.
Matlok, who has stalked Madonna in the past, entered the ten-bedroom home by smashing a side window. Madonna’s security team wrestled him to the ground after discovering him clutching some of the singer’s possessions, NME.com reports.
Authorities detained the suspect Saturday and charged him with burglary Sunday. Matlok is scheduled to appear at Westminster Magistrates Court later today.
“Something dreadful has happened here,” a senior police source told The Sun. “The security around the world’s most famous pop star should be impregnable.”
The “Express Yourself” singer has dealt with several stalkers throughout her career. Retired firefighter Robert Linhart was detained by police last September when he was found with two knives in his possession and large posters declaring his feelings for the legendary recording artist.
Robert Dewey Hoskins was found guilty on one count of stalking Madonna, one of assaulting one of her bodyguard’s at her Hollywood estate, and three of making terrorist threats against her in January 1996. Hoskins was sentenced to 10 years in prison.
