Stan Lee a-Twitter About Edgar Wright Directing 'Ant-Man'

The tiniest Avenger finally making big film debut?

He may not be a household name, but Ant-Man is a much-loved lesser known super hero who belongs to the same Avengers team as Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, and the Hulk, and science fiction blog io9 is reporting that he may be making his feature film debut.

Io9 put the spotlight on Marvel auteur Stan Lee's Twitter account, wherein he reveals that he has been in talks with Shaun of the Dead director Edgar Wright about directing an Ant-Man film for Disney, who, I must remind you, now owns Marvel Entertainment and all of its properties.

Stan Lee posted the following:

"- To make up for my previous grievous error, here's a little item that may have escaped you. Marvel is prepping a movie starring— Ant Man!
"- I had lunch with the cool, young director Edgar Wright (Shaun of the Dead) and, as you'd imagine, we had fun discussing the tiny hero."

"- Ant Man is just one of the many wild treats Marvel has planned for you, such as Iron Fist, Dr. Strange, Black Panther and more, more, more!"

Edgar Wright has been rumored to be interested in the project for a few years now, as has Pixar's involvement, but nothing as substantial as this has been revealed until now.

Henry Pym, alias Ant-Man, was one of the founding members of The Avengers team, which was created in the 1960s. He made his debut appearance in 1962 with the technologically-assisted ability to shrink to ant-size and communicate with the insects through his helmet. The script will likely contain much humor thanks to the nature of his abilities, but hopefully they will remain respectful to the many fans of this very unusual choice for a super hero film adaptation.

The film may be a long way off, but if a casting decision is made by the time The Avengers goes into production, where an Ant-Man cameo is rumored to be in the plans, it's almost assured that the same actor will continue playing him in his solo outing.
