Staples makes ‘The Office’s’ Dunder Mifflin a real paper company

Fans of The Office, your dream has come true. You will now be able to actually order real Dunder Mifflin paper goods.

The Wall Street Journal first reported that Staples’ Quill.com has signed a licensing agreement with NBC Universal to launch a real Dunder Mifflin brand of paper products, using slogans ripped from the sitcom. Quill.com plans on using "Our motto is, 'Quabity First'" and "Get Your Scrant on,” phrases both used in the show.

The deal is a unique form of ‘reverse product placement,’ where the product was created in the show prior to it actually being used in the real world. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the deal will last for two years, although financial terms were not released. Still, if sales hold up against benchmarks set in the deal, it could be extended.

Quill.com will also set the prices for the products higher than their standard paper goods. The company is clearly hoping that it can reinvigorate paper sales, which, just like in the show, have been in decline. The International Business Times reports that overall, paper sales in the US have been declining at about an average of three percent per year.

As for The Office, the show is now in its eighth season and first without Steve Carell. It has been consistently one of the most-watched shows on NBC, drawing around 6 million viewers an episode, according to AOL TV.
