Star Search Host Unable to Save His Home from Foreclosure

Ed McMahon stands to lose his multi-million dollar home due to foreclosure threats.

Ed McMahon, known in entertainment for being Johnny Carson's associate, has unfortunately found himself in a situation that Carson may not be able to rescue him from.

According to eFlux Media and the Wall Street Journal, McMahon is fighting to prevent foreclosure on his Beverly Hills home. He is $644,000 behind on payments on $4.8 million in mortgage loans. A component of Countrywide Financial Corporation filed a default notice with the Los Angeles County Recorder's Office.

Further complicating McMahon's situation are reports from his spokesman, Howard Bragman, that McMahon injured his neck 18 months ago, thus making him unable to work. Prior to his medical situation, McMahon was a pitchman for American Family Publishers.

McMahon's home has six bedrooms, five baths and is located in a gated community on the hills known as The Summit, which overlooks Coldwater Canyon and Mulholland Drive. Alex Davis, who manages real estate for Alex Davis Estates, notes the house has been on the market for two years, with a sale price of $6.25 million.

While the opportunity is ripe for people to purchase a home owned by a famous celebrity; individuals might pause if they knew its precise location, right next to the house owned by Britney Spears.

Bragman noted that McMahon's declining health makes it difficult to work and pay for his house, and cited that he was one of many others affected by the weak economy and bad housing prices.

While that is true, he just became the highest-profile person sent to the economic chopping block.
