Star Wars Returns To Theaters This Summer

Lucas is bringing Star Wars back to theaters this summer just in time for it's animated series this fall.

Contrary to what George Lucas led the public to believe after the release of Star Wars III Revenge Of The Sith, Star Wars will be returning to movie theatres. Only this time it will be animated.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars will be released this summer. It is a computer-animated film according to the LA Times. It will center around Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi during wartime. It will take place after the Star Wars movie, Attack Of The Clones and directly before Revenge Of The Sith.

The movie will be a tie-in for a cartoon series that will play on both Cartoon Network and TNT, which will begin in the fall.

Lucas says, "I felt like there were a lot more 'Star Wars' stories left to tell. I was eager to start telling some of them through animation and, at the same time, push the art of the animation forward." While animation is the route Lucas has gone in now, he has hinted that a live action series may happen in the future of Star Wars.
