He just can't stop tinkering with the original movies. With the new release of 6 Star Wars movies on Blu-Ray, George Lucas has once again changed the original trilogy to make them sync up more with The Phantom Menace and the other prequels.

From blinking Ewoks to Darth Vader screaming "no" at the end of Return of the Jedi , fans of the original aren't too happy with Lucas' tweaks. In Jamie Benning's Wired review, he mentions his constant frustration with Lucas and his edits; Benning said, " It’s this lack of respect for the storyline of the originals that frustrates fans the most. Well, fans of my age anyway."

The debate over whether directors should re-imagine their creations has been in the news recently when Spielberg stated he wouldn't release the altered version of E.T. on Blu-Ray. Wired reported at a screening of Raiders of the Lost Ark Spielberg said, "it was okay for a while, but then I realized that what I had done was I had robbed the people who loved E.T. of their memories of E.T. and I regretted that."

With movies like E.T. and Star Wars, fans want to recapture their childhood. They want these movies to be the same, preserved in a time capsule forever. Hopefully Lucas will release the unaltered versions on Blu-Ray soon.
