The stars of Bridesmaids will present at the Oscars.
Rose Byrne, Ellie Kemper, Melissa McCarthy, Wendi McLendon-Covey, Maya Rudolph and Kristen Wiig will be presenting at the Oscars this February. According to YAHOO, it is the first time appearing at the award show for all six stars. The announcement was made by the show's telecast producers Brian Grazer and Don Mischer on Thursday.
Movie Web reports that two of the stars are nominated in separate categories. Wiig was nominated for the film's original screenplay, and McCarthy for her supporting role in the comedy.
Earlier this month there was controversy on whether or not a sequel to the film may be made. Wiig, co-writer of the film, stated, "We're not planning on doing one. We had a special time making the first one, but we're really excited to try something else." On the contrary, director Paul Feig said that everyone was interested, but busy at the time.
Wiig is an extremely talented actor and writer, so hopefully we can look forward to a new film blessed by her creativity, but Bridesmaids was a success, and it would probably be in everyone's best interest to leave it alone, at least for now.
