Catering comedy cancelled in its second season

Starz has cancelled the catering comedy Party Down in its second season.

The show focuses on a group of caterers in Hollywood who are each aspiring actors and writers. Party Down was created by Paul Rudd, John Enbom, Rob Thomas, and Dan Etheridge. The show, which stars Adam Scott, Ken Marino, Megan Mullally, Ryan Hansen, Martin Starr, and Lizzy Caplan, focuses on a new catering client or event each episode along with each character’s personal trials.

However, Party Down’s viewers are more of a cult following than anything else. In its second season, viewership dropped to 125,000.

Gravity, a show in its first season, has also been cancelled. Stephen Shelanksi, executive vice president of programming for Starz, gave a statement about the cancellation. “After careful consideration, we’ve decided not to continue on with subsequent seasons of Party Down and Gravity. Starz remains committed to aggressively expanding our original programming lineup,” Shelanksi said.
