During the first half of this past Sunday’s game between Pittsburgh and Buffalo, Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger sustained a sprained foot that bothered him throughout the contest.
Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin addressed Roethlisberger’s current condition during his weekly media briefing on Tuesday. Tomlin acknowledged that his team’s starting quarterback is in a walking boot.
“He might be limited somewhat [Wednesday],” Tomlin told reporters, the Miami Herald reports. “I am going to be optimistic and hopeful and he may be a full participant, but there is a chance he couldn’t be. There is some pain and discomfort. We will see where the week takes us.”
Although the foot sprain is hampering Roethlisberger, Tomlin stated that the walking boot is merely being utilized as a protective measure. The Super Bowl-winning coach expects Roethlisberger to start Sunday night in Pittsburgh’s crucial divisional game against Baltimore.
The Ravens (8-3) and Steelers (8-3) are tied atop the AFC North, and the winner of Sunday’s game between the bitter rivals will put themselves in position to earn a first-round bye in the postseason.
The Ravens defeated the Steelers in early October, 17-14, in the last game of Roethlisberger’s four-game suspension.
