Stephenie Meyers' Search for the Perfect Ring

Picking out the engagement ring for the Twilight Saga: Eclipse was no easy task.

The third film in the series focuses on the love triangle between Bella, Edward, and Jacob (or Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, and Taylor Lautner) in which an engagement is announced.

Stephenie Meyer, the author of the series, was insistent on finding a ring matching the description set within the novel: “set with slanting rows of glittering round stones.”

This was more easily said than done, as the film’s prop master, Grant Swain, spent hours upon hours researching rings and commissioning samples from a variety of designer jewelers.

After finding none of these rings acceptable, the author eventually designed the ring herself, aided by jeweler Rick Thurber.

The beautiful pave-diamond ring was not finished until the day in which the scene was filmed.
