Steve-O Faces Cocaine Charges
According to Reuters, prosecutors announced Friday that Steve-O, star of the MTV television series "Jackass," has been charged with cocaine possession.
Sandi Gibbons, a spokeswoman for the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office, stated the charges that Steve-O, whose real name is Stephen Glover, faces are associated with his arrest on March 3.
Glover's March 3 arrest was due to an investigation of vandalism and possession of a controlled substance in his Hollywood home, according to the Associated Press. Police said that Steve-O allegedly had a small amount of drugs on him at the time.
TMZ has reported that Glover has also been hospitalized for psychiatric evaluation. Glover confirmed this information on his website by telling fans, "You Should All Know I'm In The Looney Bin."
Glover's hospitalization preceded an intervention from his closest friends including Johnny Knoxville and Jeff Tremaine, according to Reuters. Glover was initially placed on a three day hold, which has since been extended to 14 days.
"I'm not getting out of this 'insane asylum' any time in the immediate future," Steve-O wrote. "I did a great deal of damage to my brain by abusing drugs and now that they've all worn off, I'm facing the consequences."
