There is very little reason to actually like the fourth Indiana Jones film, which came out in 2008 and titled Indiana Jones and The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. While director Steven Spielberg says that he still likes the film, he blames the story’s problems on executive producer George Lucas’ ideas.

In an interview with Empire magazine, Spielberg says that he was “very happy with the film,” but still had reservations about the McGuffin, the main plot device that all the characters are looking for. In The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, the object of everyone’s desires was a crystal skull that was created by aliens. “I didn't want these things to be either aliens or inter-dimensional beings,” he said. “But I am loyal to my best friend. When he writes a story he believes in - even if I don't believe in it - I'm going to shoot the movie the way George envisaged it.”

However, Spielberg did say he was to blame for the most ridiculous moment of the film, which featured Indiana Jones (Harrison Ford) surviving a nuclear blast by hiding inside a refrigerator, according to Reuters. Still, Spielberg is actually proud of his idea, which he says has now replaced the clichéd phrase “jumped the shark.”

“Blame me. Don't blame George. That was my silly idea. People stopped saying "jump the shark". They now say, ‘nuked the fridge.’ I'm proud of that. I'm glad I was able to bring that into popular culture,” Spielberg said.

In the same interview, Spielberg said that Lucas is working on a story for a fifth film. He also said that a script for a fourth Jurassic Park film is in the works and that the story is better than Jurassic Park III’s.

Spielberg has two films coming out this holiday season. The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn will be released on Dec. 21, while War Horse will be released on Christmas Day.
