Aerosmith front man and American Idol judge Steven Tyler, 63, recently got engaged to girlfriend, 38-year-old Erin Brady. While some families might be happy about the news, Tyler’s family is not, according to reports.

Tyler’s engagement was first reported by TMZ Tuesday, when the site posted a picture of what appears to be an engagement ring on Brady’s finger. They were reported to have spent Christmas in Maui, although it could not be confirmed if Tyler, who has been married twice before, had proposed during the vacation or earlier.

Sources told TMZ Wednesday, though, that Tyler’s family is not happy about the engagement. Sources close to the “Walk This Way” singer’s family said that they are telling friends that they do not like Brady and have fought with her in the past. Family members are saying that “She's just not nice.” Another source adds that she has been “mean” to the family.

Tyler’s family was also reported to have been upset about not being told of Tyler’s engagement plans until after he had proposed.

According to The Daily Mail, Tyler has been dating Brady since 2006, the same year that he divorced his second wife, clothing designer Teresa Barrick, who he married in 1988. His first marriage was to model Cyrinda Foxe, which lasted almost ten years from 1978 to 1987. He has four children, including actress Liv Tyler, whose mother is actress Bebe Buell.

Tyler and his representatives have yet to comment on the reports of his engagement.
