Aerosmith rocker and American Idol judge was one of the many celebrities to get engaged over the holidays, and now he’s speaking out about what drew him to his fiance after they met.
"She had on this hair band on around her head," he said on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, which airs Tuesday, People reports. "She looked really old-fashioned, so I took her back in the room and she tied me up with it and I thought, 'I'm marrying this girl.' "
He said an element of Erin Brady’s scarf that attracted him was "the imagery" adding, "and how deep one can get into it."
Tyler and Brady, 38, have been dating for the past five years, but despite being attracted to her head accessory, he said "I didn't notice her” when she was working for Clearwater Communications and paying his band.
The rocker has been married twice before, first to Cyrinda Foxe from 1978 to 1987 then to designer Teresa Barrick, which ended in 2006.
Digital Spy reports that Tyler has been sober for the past two years. He explains of his sobriety, “I have [a] program. I got all my friends that are sober now. What it is... It's euphoric recall.”
He added, "You hear music and you can get so high and the curtain comes down. It's no different than doing a bump [of drugs]. It's the same thing and that's why it is so dangerous for me. I can't get back into that world."
Tyler will return with fellow judges Jennifer Lopez and Randy Jackson for the two-night premiere of American Idol this Wednesday and Thursday on Fox.
