STP Announces First Tour in Nearly Eight Years

The tour kicks off on May 17 in Columbus, Ohio.

Just days following his ousting with his band made up of all-star musicians, Scott Weiland will return to the group that he left for Velvet Revolver in 2003, for 65 tour dates.

The Stone Temple Pilots will begin their 65-date tour of North American amphitheaters next month, according to the group's representatives on Tuesday.

In a statement issued by Velvet Revolver Tuesday, the reasons for Weiland's departure were his "increasingly erratic onstage behavior and personal problems." Weiland countered the following day, saying that his former bandmates were "discontents" taking part in "a blatant and tired excuse to cover up the truth," eluding to the fact that the band hadn't been getting along for a while.

Weiland went on to say that his Stone Temple Pilot bandmates "have always had my back."

The band's tour will be STP's first in almost eight years. It will begin at Rock on the Range in Columbus, Ohio on May 17.
