Strike End in Sight
The Associated Press reported that a possible deal proposal that could put an end to the 3-month-long Writers Guild of America strike might be ready as early as Friday. Attorneys for the picketing writers have been working on a plan to negotiate with the studios.
The writers and studio execs will duke it out Saturday in New York and Los Angeles, according to the AP, for hopefully the final time.
Since Nov. 5, Hollywood has been on a production standstill because of the WGA strike. The writers have exchanged their pens for picket signs in hopes of receiving compensation for their shows that are distributed over the Internet, reported the AP.
Should this be the end of the strike, the Oscars will proceed as the normal glitzy event it is every year, instead of the news conference the Golden Globes were reduced to earlier this year.
