Stuart Townsend Leaves 'Thor'

Recent reports on the status of the film reveal that Stuart Townsend has left the production because of creative differences

Stuart Townsend has reportedly left Thor because of creative differences. Townsend was supposed to play the role of Fandral, one of the Warriors Three and ally to Thor.

His replacement is Joshua Dallas, a virtually unknown actor who has recently appeared in The Descent: Part 2 and has a part in the upcoming film Red Tails, which is a George Lucas production.

This is not the first time that a change of this nature has been made for Townsend. He was also replaced at the last minute by Viggo Mortensen for the part of Aragorn in The Lord of the Rings.

Thor, which is directed by Kenneth Branagh, only recently started shooting and will be released next year. The film also stars Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman and Anthony Hopkins.

Townsend has had parts in The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen and Queen of the Damned (which stars deceased singer Aaliyah). Townsend is also known for his relationship with actress Charlize Theron.
