Studio Calls 'Bruno' Lawsuit Baseless
NBC Universal is calling the suit filed against Sacha Baron Cohen and his new movie "Bruno" is "completely baseless," according to The New York Times.
In the suit, Richelle Olson claims that she was injured at a charity bingo game in Palmdale, Calif., in May 2007. She says Cohen came in as his character Bruno, and she fell and hit her head and had bleeding in her brain after a struggle to take a microphone from the actor.
In NBC Universal's statement, they say that the footage "clearly shows that Ms. Olson was never touched or in any way assaulted by Sacha Baron Cohen or any members of the production and suffered no injury."
"Bruno" is Cohen's second movie based on a character from his "Da Ali G Show," which aired from 2003-04 in the U.S. It's being released on July 10.
