Summit’s Zombie Love Project Captures Jonathan Levine
Summit Entertainment has procured Wackness writer-director Jonathan Levine to helm and be the scribe of their upcoming zombie love project, entitled Warm Bodies.
According to an article on HollywoodReporter.com, “With a tone that sounds like Twilight meets Shaun of the Dead, the story follows an existentially tormented zombie named ‘R’ that begins an unlikely friendship with the human girlfriend of one of his victims. The blossoming relationship starts a chain reaction that will transform him, his fellow zombies and maybe the whole lifeless world.”
The film is based on a book by Seattle-based author Isaac Marion. He originally self-published the novel and sold it through his own Web site before its publishing rights were purchased earlier this year by Atria Books, a division of Simon and Schuster. Its publication is slated for summer 2010.
The HollywoodReporter.com article goes on to say, “Bruna Papanadrea, an exec producer on Milk and The Mysteries of Pittsburgh, is producing Bodies through her Make Movies banner. Executive producing are Laurie Webb and Cori Shepherd Stern.”
In addition, Eric Feig and Gillian Bohrer, Summit’s president and vice president of production, respectively, will be overseeing Bodies.
Levine is represented by CAA and showed his romantic comedy prowess by writing and directing The Wackness, starring Ben Kingsley and ex-Bond girl Famke Janssen, as well as helming the 2006 horror flick, All the Boys Love Mandy Lane.
