Sundance Finds a New Audience in YouTube!
Moviegoers will now be able to experience the Sundance Film Festival from their own home. Starting this Friday, independent film fans will be able to get a taste of Sundance’s latest films through YouTube’s new movie rental feature. This Friday will mark a trial run of sorts as five films featured at the acclaimed festival will be available to rent at the popular video/media site. This highly anticipated trial is said to last until the end of the month. Rental prices are said to vary based on the individual films and the length of rental time.
Expanding on their deal with Sundance, YouTube has also been pursuing such studios as Lions Gate Entertainment and Sony Pictures with hopes of securing a similar online rental feature. If this service proves to be successful, there are talks that it could eventually involve newly released films from major big budget studios.
