Superman gets engaged

Wedding bells will soon be ringing for the Man of Steel, but it won't be Lois Lane walking down the aisle.

"Superman Returns" star Brandon Routh is engaged to his girlfriend, actress Courtney Ford, publicist Kasey Spies announced Wednesday to "E! News."

Although no wedding date has been set yet, Spies tells People magazine the couple plans to marry sometime next fall, adding, "They are very happy."

"She brings me to my knees," Routh tells the magazine.

The newest star of the Superman franchise proposed to Ford earlier this month, after being together for three years.

"I used to work at Lucky Strike," Routh says about their first meeting. "I was a bartender. And her brother was having his (wedding) rehearsal dinner party there."

"He met my whole family the day he met me," Ford says.

In addition to this summer's blockbuster "Superman Returns," Routh has made appearances on shows including "Will & Grace" and "Gilmore Girls." Ford's TV credits include former UPN show "Moesha."
