'Supernatural' Recap: 'Repo Man'

Marissa Priest

Four years ago, the boys had captured another demon in Idaho on their quest to stop Lilith. With the help of a local woman, they managed to stop him from torturing and killing any more women. But the Winchesters need this demon for more than that. With their own form of supernatural torture, they are able to get names and locations of their next demonic target.

In the present, Sam and Dean are back in that same town. As Dean drills Frank for more information on the Leviathans, Sam has a quick flash of Lucifer. He's hiding the visions from his brother again, but is able to make the mocking devil leave.

But the brothers have one more issue on their hands. The demon they stopped four years ago has apparently returned. Similar brutal killings are happening again, all in the same area as before. Curious as to how he was released from Hell and eager to send him back, the Winchesters head out at the news of the next dead woman.

At the scene, they are recognized by Detective Sutton, who worked with them four years ago. Sam is having issues observing the crime scene with Lucifer sticking his forked tongue out at him, but is still able to spot sulfur in the car.

Their next stop is to visit the woman who helped them before, who has now sent up her own Wiccan shop. She is heading out of town after hearing about the murders, but reminds the boys to visit Jeffrey, the demon's old pet.

Jeffrey seems to have a somewhat normal life, aside from living in a halfway house. When Dean and Sam jump him in an alley, he is surprised and scared to see them. Back at his home, Sam is still distracted by Lucifer's nagging. When Dean tells Jeffrey about the demon, he is more than upset. Yet upon hearing the name of the most recent victim, Jeffrey tells them he knows the next one.

While possessed, he had heard the demon reciting a list of names. While helpful now, it seems odd for a demon to be so particular about his killings. Dean decides to stay and keep an eye on Jeffrey, while Sam heads out to warn the next woman on the list.

She works at a library, where Lucifer helpfully points out her working at the desk. Then, like a child, the devil keeps on pestering Sam, who can't seem to make him vanish anymore.

Back at the apartment, Jeffrey is telling Dean his long list of injuries. After everything, Jeffrey's life fell apart. In his lost state, he began to talk about what really happened that night. Tales of demons brought Jeffrey to a mental institution, where he had to slowly recover.

After thanking Dean for everything he and Sam did, Jeffrey comes up with another place they may find the demon. In between kills, the demon would stay in a hideout filled with the tokens of his killings. This time, Jeffrey is willing to go with Dean in order to help.

Focusing is getting harder for Sam as Lucifer makes him see all the people in the library smash their heads on the wall. Sam is able to make that vision stop, but can't make Lucifer go away. During his brief clarity, he notices a suspicious figure and moves out. It's not a demon, but the librarian's boyfriend come to visit her during her break.

Jeffrey has brought Dean to the hideout, but only has vague memories of the inside. Still, he can use landmarks to bring Dean inside. They find a room filled with demonic markings on the windows and walls. What is more confusing is the body tied up to a chair in the warehouse. As Dean does to release the man, he is stabbed in the neck with a needle.

Following the librarian is getting nowhere, so Sam calls his brother. It goes straight to voicemail, which is a worrying sign according to Lucifer. The devil also helpfully points out that the latest round of victims all have trace amounts of tranquilizers in the bodies, which would have been odd for a demon to use. After all this, Sam finally tells the vision to shut up.

Sam goes back to Jeffrey's place, while Lucifer keeps on trying for another response. As he rummages through the desk and drawers, Sam only finds a cell phone scrambler. After a little pointing from Lucifer, Sam discovers a secret nook filled with spells in Latin.

Walking down an alley, Sam and Lucifer try and figure out where these mysterious spells came from. It's a type of spell to summon a demon, but that isn't enough for Sam to go off on. It's the handwriting of the spell that sends him off.

It belongs to their friendly Wiccan Laura, who assaults Sam when he breaks into her store, It's one of her spells, but she doesn't tell Sam very much. All she says is that this is all according to his plan. Sam shouts at her, instead of the violence Lucifer encourages. It works, and Laura tells him that this isn't at all the work of a demon. Jeffrey has her son, not the demon.

Dean is figuring this out too, as he is tied up while Jeffrey talks about missing and loving the demon. He was behind all the killings, and the demon gave him the strength and power to do it. In Jeffrey's eyes, the boys destroyed his life by sending the demon who saved him to Hell.

After being told by Laura that she wouldn't help him, Jeffrey kidnapped her son until she gave him the spells. When it didn't work, Laura was sent a package containing her son's ear. With that motivation, she discovered the most powerful summoning spells. However, one of the ingredients is Dean.

Laura has a new job now, finding her son and Dean. As they work, Jeffrey collects Dean's blood for his spell. He even tries to relate to Dean's broken state of mind. Through state funded rehab, Jeffrey was able to find the will to live and given the motivation to bring back his demon. With everything he needs for the spell, it seems that he has gotten everything he wanted.

The demon is back, but not in Jeffrey. Laura's son is the new host. The demon is happy to see what Jeffrey is done, but not happy enough to possess him. He wants Jeffery to keep at his evil, but on his own. That was his mission on earth.

Sam arrives, and traps the demon with Laura's help. Jeffrey tries to save his demon, but Dean shoots him first. Despite the demon's taunts, Laura sends it back to hell all on her own.

Back at the hotel, Dean collapses on the bed as Sam processes what just happened. Sam can't rest like his brother with more teasing from Lucifer. Now on, he can't send him away.
